High School Students

Step 1:

Choose Your Path

Jump Start College

(Ages 14-18)

To be accepted at Purdue University Global, you’ll need to have a minimum of a private pilot’s license and enrollment at JA Flight Training for additional training. The good news is that you can begin your private pilot training at any age, but you must be at least 16 years old to fly solo and 17 years old to obtain your private pilot certificate.

Depending on your age, you may be able to complete your Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot Certificate by the time you turn 18. With all three ratings, you could receive up to 9 college credits at Purdue University Global and be eligible for an internship at Southern Airways Express, which is a great way to get a head start on your career.

So why wait? Start your journey to becoming a pilot today with JA Flight Training!

Direct Career Path

(Start any age)

It’s never too early to start pursuing your dreams of becoming a pilot. That’s why we offer private pilot training to students of all ages. Whether you’re a high school student or a parent looking to help your child achieve their goals, we’re here to help.

The minimum age to fly solo is 16 years old, and pilots need to be at least 17 years of age to obtain their Private Pilot Certificate.

At JA Flight Training, we offer direct-to-pilot career paths through our partnership with Southern Airways Express. This means that once you’ve completed your Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot Certificate, you’ll be ready to start your career as a co-pilot with Southern Airways Express. It’s a great way to gain valuable experience and start building your hours right away.

Bachelors Degree Program

Students can also pursue a normal degree plan after graduating high school at either Liberty University Online or Purdue University Global while simultaneously completing their flight training. Both universities offer different paths to the airlines, so students can choose the one that best suits their career goals.

If you opt for the Purdue University Global path, you’ll have the opportunity to start working at Southern Airways Express while still in school, which is a great way to gain valuable experience before moving on to the airlines. On the other hand, Liberty University students generally become flight instructors to build their hours prior to moving to the airlines.

So, whether you’re looking to gain experience as a flight instructor or start working for an airline right away, JA Flight Training has got you covered
